This Now We’ve Got Members record is a maze of sounds. Every song contains a fragment from another song on the record – a rhythm, a melody, a chord or a lyric. Some of the songs have a shadow song somewhere else on the record. The music is a distinguished blend of various folk musics boiled down to a core of catchy pop. Balkan folk, Ethiopian funk and Greek rebetika from the 30′s all meddle in the background of the members’ soundscape. dEUS pops in for a cup of tea at Fairport Convention’s place and Steve Reich has a shot of pastis with James Brown.
